Small Charities Week

25th June 2025

Stepping Stones North Wales, a small charity supporting adult survivors / victims of childhood sexual abuse, are proud to take part in this year’s National Small Charity Week which runs from the 23rd to the 28th of June, raising awareness of the essential work carried out by the country’s small charities. These organisations make an invaluable contribution to changing and often saving the lives of millions of individuals, improving communities and furthering causes and support throughout Wales and the UK.

This year’s campaign shines a spotlight on financial resilience, recognising the incredible efforts of small charities to keep delivering services even as costs rise and fundraising becomes increasingly challenging.

Last year Stepping Stones delivered 6,400 counselling sessions and this year we are already seeing a rise in the number of calls from survivors seeking our specialist support.

As well as providing therapeutic counselling our charity also provides art therapy, access to education classes, skills and activity classes and family support.

Phil Eastment, CEO at Stepping Stones North Wales said:

“We are a small charity working locally, we are ideally positioned to build relationships throughout entire communities, helping underserved individuals to access the help that they need.  Our charity has been delivering services across the 6 counties of North Wales for 41 years.

“Survivors suffer the lifelong effects of the trauma of abuse, many taking years to seek support. We rely entirely on grants and donations to run our services and as fundraising becomes increasingly challenging it becomes increasingly difficult to deliver services to all in need.

“Small charities matter, they are embedded in their communities. They often know the people they serve personally and tailor their support to the local needs. They have powerful, real stories and show the raw, emotional reality of the lives they touch.”
